Transfer News: Manchester United will need to pay at least £38m to land Nikola Milenkovic

According to The Sun, Manchester United will need to fork out at least £38m to sign Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Serbian ace is one of the best young defenders in the Italian top-flight. He has been on United’s radar for some time now and it might be time to make our move.

The 23-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract soon. With his deal expiring next year, the chances of him penning an extension seem remote.

It is no secret that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a dependable partner for Harry Maguire. While Milenkovic is an intriguing option, the chances of United coughing up what Fiorentina want is remote.

This could very well open the door for Chelsea, who are also interested to make their move. Whether the Red Devils will drop out altogether or look to negotiate a cheaper deal remains to be seen.

Milenkovic joined Fiorentina in 2017 and has become an indispensable first-team regular in recent years. He has so far made 127 appearances for La Viola, scoring 11 goals and assisting one more. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Although United do have the likes of Pau Torres, Raphael Varane and Jules Kounde on their radar, they all will cost more than Milenkovic. While the Serbian is a cheaper alternative, it remains to be seen if the Red Devils see worth in what they pay for.

Milenkovic looks up to Nemanja Vidic and has admitted that he tries to model his game on the United great.
