Manchester United in advanced negotiations for Raphael Varane

Transfer News: Raphael Varane to Manchester United gains traction as the summer window nears

According to journalist Jose Alvarez Haya of El Chiringuito TV, Raphael Varane is at an advanced stage of completing his move to Manchester United.

The 27-year-old is one of the best defenders in the game and has won numerous accolades with both club and country. His current deal at Real runs until 2022 and he is yet to commit his future to Los Blancos.

While Zinedine Zidane is keen to keep the defender, Real are worried about losing the player for free next year. The best chance of them being able to demand top dollar will be this upcoming summer (h/t The Mirror)

Real may be willing to aprt ways with the Frenchman in the summer for £60m. United meanwhile remain confident that the asking price can be brought down.

With the prospect of losing him on a free next summer, Real might very well be willing to negotiate a lower fee. There has been no indication as of yet that he is willing to extend his stay at the Bernabeu.

The ideal recruit!

United is keen to bring in a defender to partner skipper Harry Maguire in defence. There is a widespread belief at the club that Varane fits the profile of the player the club is looking for.

Having won it all at Real Madrid, Varane is in need of a new challenge. United are currently rebuilding their team and Varane would be an excellent addition to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

He would not just add world-class quality but also bring with him a world of championship-winning experience to a team that sorely needs it.
