Transfer News: Manchester United star Dean Henderson wanted by Tottenham
In latest transfer news from The Sun, Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson as emerged as a potential transfer target for Tottenham.
The 23-year-old, a product of the Manchester United youth academy, is enjoying his first season with the senior team in 2020/21 after having had successful loan spells with Sheffield United.
While he was largely a second-fiddle for David de Gea, the Spaniard’s recent absence due to personal reasons has given Henderson an extended run in the side. And the England international has made the most of it, making a strong case for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to stick with him as the first-choice.
Tottenham have had their eyes on Henderson for a while now. The Lilywhites are in the market for a new long-term replacement for first-choice custodian and club captain Hugo Lloris, who is tipped for a return to Spain.
And Spurs want Henderson to replace him and were confident of landing him due to his frustrations over the lack of starts at United. However, that has changed in recent weeks, which complicates matters for them.
Furthermore, the report even adds that there is the possibility of Man United letting David de Gea leave in the summer and back Henderson as the No. 1. Irrespective of that, any transfer to Tottenham would be highly unlikely as United wouldn’t want to strengthen a direct rival.

Apart from Henderson, Tottenham are also looking at former Manchester United star Sam Johnstone and Burnley’s Nick Pope, who has been linked with the Red Devils as well.
Henderson has done enough to be trusted with the No. 1 duties. It now remains to be seen whether Solskjaer is prepared to back him once the international break is over.
