Christian Falk: Manchester United have not made a beeline for Andre Silva
Speaking on the Sport Bild talk show, journalist Christian Falk has rubbished the rumours that Manchester United have approached Andre Silva.
The 25-year-old struggled at AC Milan before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt initially on loan in 2019. He has thrived at the German side and penned permanent terms last year.
In 19 goals from just 21 Bundesliga games, Silva is the club’s top scorer this season. This has helped Frankfurt mount a serious challenge for a top-four finish and qualify for next season’s Champions League.
The player’s good form has seen him touted as a potential long-term replacement for the ageing Edinson Cavani. While it does make sense, Falk has rubbished that any contact has already been made.
“That’s not true, I’ve asked around. The rumours come from England, there’s absolutely nothing to it yet.”
While Falk has refused to rule out any future moves United may make, we are yet to get going right now. He curiously goes on to add that United being linked to Silva may hint at them moving away from signing Erling Haaland.
“Maybe they’ll make it, at some point, but so far there’s been no contact, but it does show that when the reporters are looking at replacements, United have already moved from Haaland off a bit. I don’t think they’re that far into the race.”
With Anthony Martial struggling and Cavani not getting any younger, United need to bring in a new striker sooner or later. While Haaland is the obvious choice and the best option out there, signing him will not be easy.
As we have seen in recent weeks, bringing in a new striker should be paramount to our ambitions going forward.

Silva has two years left on his deal. The potential return of Luka Jovic could see Frankfurt raise funds by selling Silva. This could work in United’s favour. (h/t The Sun)
