Ed Woodward gives Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his vote of confidence
According to Daily Mail, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given the vote of confidence by Ed Woodward.
The Norwegian is currently in his second full season in charge at Old Trafford. While we may still be some way away from securing the Premier League title, a second-place finish this campaign would showcase progress.
Top of the league in January, a run of just 11 points in 8 games has seen us fall 14 points behind Manchester City, who are now top.

The Red Devils are well and truly alive in the FA Cup and also the Europa League. While we have fallen at the semifinal stage of the Carabao Cup, there is hope that the team can do better in the other competitions.
Following the release of United’s second-quarter financial figures on Thursday, Woodward was full of praise for Solskjaer and the growth he and his team have shown this season.
“The progress made by Ole and the players this season is clear.”

The Covid-19 pandemic has been hard on all clubs and United are no different. The club’s net debt has risen by £64.2million to £455.5m. Despite that, Woodward has taken a positive outlook on the club’s future both on and off the field.
“And while we are pleased about this season’s on-pitch progress and the strength of our current squad, we are equally bullish on our long-term prospects.”
He appears to have faith in the current squad and is hopeful about the club’s future. With a plethora of young talents coming through, he might very well be proved right.

It was revealed last month that Solskjaer is still waiting on a contract extension on his United deal. His current contract expires in 2022 and negotiations are yet to take place.
Woodward’s show of faith will give the Norwegian hope going into the summer. Winning a trophy could very well seal the deal.
