Transfer News: Manchester United hunting for suitors for Andreas Pereira
According to Italian news outlet Corriere Dello Sport, Manchester United are on the lookout for teams that may be interested in Andreas Pereira.
Currently on a season-long loan at Lazio, Pereira has failed to impress and has been rather underwhelming. With just one goal and two assists in 21 appearances, he is the forgotten man at the Stadio Olimpico. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Italians have the option to sign Pereira permanently for €25m at the end of the campaign. As things stand, it is something they are unwilling to exercise.
United too do not appear keen to welcome back the Brazilian and are looking for other teams who may be interested. The club are keen to reinforce its defence and selling Pereira would help bring in funds to aid in that.
A good run of form may convince Lazio to take him permanently. But manager Simone Inzaghi does not seem inclined to give the player too many opportunities to prove himself.
Given his limited impact so far, no one can blame the Italian tactician for his decision.
Signed from PSV Eindhoven in 2011, Pereira progressed through the ranks at United, winning the coveted ‘Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year award’ in 2014/15.
This promise however failed to translate into first-team performances. Pereira made just 75 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions scoring just four goals and making five assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

His contract at United runs until 2023, which should preserve his transfer value if he returns in the summer.
Unfortunately, his poor performances in Italy will have hit United’s valuation and it remains to be seen if the club will lower their asking price.
