Mbappe could hold the key for Manchester United to capture Sergio Ramos
According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t The Express), Manchester United could land Sergio Ramos, thanks to Real Madrid’s interest in Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe is one of the world’s best players and could even evolve into the biggest name in the game. While it had been suggested earlier that United could have an advantage in his pursuit, there is a lack of reliable information linking us to his services.
The same cannot be said of Real, who are very keen on securing the 22-year-old.
A deal taking him to the Santiago Bernabeu is not without its consequences. Mbappe’s arrival could mean the departure of skipper Sergio Ramos.
The 34-year-old is one of the finest defenders of his generation. With just six months left on his current deal, he could potentially leave on a free in the summer. United are one of the sides keen on his services.
Ramos is unhappy at Madrid’s plans to spend £130m on Mbappe. Especially after talks regarding his own future have stalled over wage demands.
Money talks
Real are also expected to hand Mbappe a lucrative £335,000-per-week contract. In comparison, Ramos earns £300,000-a-week. The Spanish giants’ logic is understandable as the former is yet to hit his prime while the latter is nearing the end of his career. (h/t The Express)
With David Alaba also set to join on a free transfer, Ramos could very well be on his way out. Interestingly, it was revealed that the Austrian ace too is demanding a lucrative weekly wage that exceeds what Ramos earns right now.
