Paul Pogba appears to be on his way out of Manchester United
According to El Chiringuito (h/t MEN), Mathias Pogba has confirmed that his brother Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United for free if he is not sold in the summer.
The French international’s contract at United expires in 2022 and the club will need to make a decision on his future at the end of the season. His agent, Mino Raiola, had earlier revealed that his client was unhappy and will seek to leave the club in the summer.
United triggered a one-year extension in Pogba’s contract to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer this summer. They do not hold much leverage on repeating the trick if it extends into next season.
Pogba, to his credit, has not let the talk of his impending exit impact his performances. In fact, his performances have significantly improved, helping United mount a serious Premier League title challenge.
“He is happy. He is improving his game.”
Mathias revealed that Pogba is happy and is enjoying his development. Whether it is in fact serving as an audition for other clubs to take note remains to be seen.
Despite this upturn in fortunes, Mathias admitted that he is unaware of any negotiations taking place between the player and the club.
“He has a year left on his contract. I don’t know [if he will stay until then]. I can’t help you right now.”
A decision to make
“The only thing I can say is if United want money, they have to sell him now. That’s the only thing I can say. If not, he’ll go for free. I haven’t heard anything about him renewing his contract.”
Speaking with Rio Ferdinand, Pogba recently revealed that he plans to meet club officials to sort out his future. Given his brother’s comments, it would seem likely that he is currently in his final few months as a United star (h/t MEN)
Losing a player such as Pogba for free is something unfathomable. If an agreement on an extension cannot be reached, the club should do all they can to get top dollar for him in the summer.

One of the world’s best players on his day. Pogba is United’s record signing. It is fair to say that he has failed to produce his best on a consistent basis.
With his exit looming large, he will hopefully look to end his second coming to Old Trafford on a high and depart having won us a major honour.
