Marcus Rashford overtakes Eric Cantona in Manchester United scoring charts
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has emerged as a hero both on and off the field in recent years. The 23-year-old added another feather to his cap in our 9-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday night.
The Englishman scored United’s second of the night after Aaron Wan-Bissaka had given the Red Devils the lead. This was Rashford’s 83rd strike for the club, taking him above Eric Cantona in the all-time scorers’ list of the club.
One of United’s best strikers in the modern era, the Frenchman is someone synonymous with United’s early domination of the Premier League.
It was a special moment for Rashford, who grew up hearing stories of Cantona’s exploits in Red. He took to Twitter to express his joy and also praise what was an excellent team performance.
Rashford is currently 14th in United’s all-time scorers’ list and currently trails David Beckham by two goals. Current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who occupies the sixth spot, is still some way off with 127 goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)

While he may have overtaken Cantona in one aspect, he still trails the Frenchman in the number of Premier League titles won. Cantona spent four years at Old Trafford, in which we finished as champions thrice.
Rashford is keen to emulate the King’s success and will hopefully lead us to a first league title since 2013.
