Manchester United on the verge of loaning Facundo Pellistri to Deportivo Alaves
Journalist Jonathan Shrager (h/t Express) claims that Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri is on his way to join La Liga side Deportivo Alaves.
The move, which would be until the end of the 2020//21 season, could be completed as soon as Friday. Pellistri has attracted interest from other clubs too.
Most notably, another Spanish side, Celta Vigo, were keen on the youngster. But it now looks like the 19-year-old will be an Alaves player by the end of the January transfer window deadline. (h/t Express)
Pellistri joined the Red Devils from Uruguayan side Penarol on deadline day last summer. He has only made appearances for the U-23 side this season, and is yet to play for the senior team.
He was, however, on the bench for United against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. And he was also denied a possible debut in the FA Cup against Watford as he contracted Covid-19 earlier this month.
Valuable game time abroad
United added Amad Diallo to their ranks this winter. The Ivorian joins a lethal attack that consists of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has even indicated that Diallo could be making his senior debut very soon.
In light of this, Pellistri leaving the club should not be a big blow. In fact, he would get some valuable game time.
Pellistri is just 19 and this experience abroad would definitely help him in his development curve.

Alaves are in the relegation battle and would have to do well to survive in La Liga at the end of the season. They are in 18th spot, just 4 points above bottom-placed side Huesca.
