Andy Cole defends under-fire Manchester United star Paul Pogba following Mino Raiola comments
Speaking to the Target Men Podcast (h/t Mirror), former Manchester United hero Andy Cole has termed the criticism of Paul Pogba unfair following comments by his agent Mino Raiola.
Raiola cooked up a storm after revealing his client is keen to leave the club. Coming on the eve of the titanic Champions League fixture against RB Leipzig, his comments were not well received by the United fans and pundits.
Having returned to the club in 2016, Pogba has been a divisive figure amongst fans. Although he led us to two trophies in his first season back, Pogba has failed to replicate that form since.
Cole is a self-professed fan of the 27-year-old and believes Pogba left Juventus to come to United and help us return to the top.
“I’m one of Paul Pogba’s biggest fans and I think he’s a fantastic player. I also think he gets a lot of unfair criticism.”
However, the transfer has not worked out well for either the player or the club. Rather than the world-class player we thought United were getting, Pogba has been widely consistent.
“It’s a transfer that hasn’t worked out as either club or player would have hoped.”
Cole believes a decision will be made on the player’s future by next summer. Given how things have gone so far, it would be fair to assume his second coming is drawing to a close.

Pogba, to his credit, has done well since Raiola’s comments. He put in excellent performances against Leipzig and Manchester City before the eyecatching display against Sheffield United midweek.
One can debate over whether criticising Pogba is justified or not. What can be said is that he has not done himself any favours with the way he has conducted himself throughout his stay at Old Trafford.
With just 18 months left on his current contract, Pogba’s time at Old Trafford appears to be coming to an end. With his performances now picking up, at the very least he could leave the club on a high.
