Manchester United and Manchester City to battle it out for Erling Braut Haaland
According to The Guardian, Manchester United and Manchester City are set to face off against each other for Erling Braut Haaland.
The Norwegian is going from strength to strength at Borussia Dortmund. He already has 17 goals and three assists in just 14 appearances this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Having moved to the Bundesliga this January, Haaland has shown he has what it takes to become a world-class player. A devastating scorer, he is better than any forward we have in our ranks at the moment.
City meanwhile have an infallible scorer in Sergio Aguero. However, injuries and age are catching up with the veteran legend.
More so Aguero’s contract runs out the coming summer and no negotiations have taken place regarding an extension. In Haaland, they have a prolific player who can potentially replace the Argentine at the Etihad. (h/t The Guardian)
United, meanwhile, were keen on signing the player before he moved to Dortmund. However, it was not to be. (h/t The Guardian)
United’s top target is still Jadon Sancho. However, we have asked to be kept informed regarding Haaland’s status. (h/t The Guardian)
Dortmund are under no obligation to sell their top scorer next summer. However, they could demand a lot more if they did so given his release clause worth around £65m does not kick in until 2022.
A major thorn in our efforts to land him could be the player’s agent Mino Raiola. The superagent has a strained relation with us and was recently in the media drumming up news about Paul Pogba.
More so he even came out telling Solskajer to focus more on the Frenchman than worry about Haaland.
