Manchester United star Scott McTominay played in against PSG with impaired vision
According to The Independent, Manchester United star Scott McTominay played on against PSG despite having impaired vision.
The Scottish international was amongst those United stars who rose to the occasion. It proved to yet another joyous trip to the Parc des Princes as we yet again returned with all three points.
According to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, McTominay effectively played the first half with just one eye after losing one of his contact lens.
“Scotty played the first half with one eye as well, that was the most impressive thing, because he lost his contact lens. That was impressive.”
Playing alongside Fred, the United duo successfully bossed the midfield battle. This all but cut off service to PSG’s potent front two of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
Solskjaer was effusive with his praise for the duo who excelled blunting the PSG attack. It is all the more impressive considering McTominay did so with poor vision.
In fact, this is the second straight game where both McTominay and Fred have impressed. They also starred in our resounding 4-1 victory over Newcastle United last weekend.
“They laid the foundation for the win in that game and laid the foundation for today as well.”
It was an excellent return to the competition for United, who missed out entirely in the last campaign.
Having been drawn in the group of death, our chances of qualifying for the knockout rounds was always going to be difficult. Playing the likes of PSG and RB Leipzig is no easy task and we will need our top players to step up.
They did just that last night in the French capital. Come the end of matchday six, these three points could prove to be very crucial.
