Manchester United fans react as Chris Smalling leaves club
As confirmed by the club’s official site, Manchester United have reached an agreement with AS Roma for the transfer of defender Chris Smalling.
The veteran centre-back spent last season on loan at the Serie A club. He showcased a number of top performances and cemented himself as one of the best defenders in the league.
Signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2010 from Fulham, Smalling has made 323 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals.
He has won five major titles at United, including two Premier League triumphs.
The 30-year-old developed a knack for scoring in the Manchester Derby. In fact, he scored thrice in wins against City including the famous 3-2 win in 2018.

Good luck Chris. Delivered some big moments for us including goals against City, and one of our most decorated players leaving the club, involved in a lot of recent trophies. All the best in Italy.

Quite sad about this.He must have improved immensely in Italy to get in the Serie A team of the year. Defenders in Italy are really good. Surely he would have added quality at CB given all the issues in that position currently. Wouldn’t get a similar player for £20m in the market

Good Luck King. Served us well for 9 years. Nice to see you do well in Serie A and escape from this garbage dumb
