Edinson Cavani credits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer conversation for Manchester United move
According to The Mirror, Edinson Cavani has admitted that his conversation with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer helped convince him to move to Manchester United.
The 33-year-old joined United on a free transfer on deadline day. He is the club’s third major first-team capture of the window.
“I have had a conversation with the manager and this has increased my desire to wear this beautiful shirt.”
A proven striker at the top level, the Uruguayan will add some much-needed firepower to the United attack.
In many ways, Cavani was a surprise choice given our priorities going into the summer window.
The 33-year-old joins United after a prolific spell in the French capital. During his seven seasons with PSG, he won six Ligue 1 titles and is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
In fact, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have scored more goals in Europe’s top five leagues than Cavani since he made his way to Italy in 2007.
He will look to hit the ground running at United. The conversation with Solskjaer hastened his desire to make the switch.
“Manchester United is one of the greatest clubs in the world, so it is a real honour to be here. I’ve worked really hard during the time off and I feel eager to compete and represent this incredible club.”
It comes as no surprise that Solskjaer was able to convince Cavani on making the move. After all, the Norwegian was a loyal player during his time at United, exemplifying everything the institution stands for.
