Manchester United hold talks with Watford over Ismaila Sarr loan move
According to Sky Sports journalist James Cooper (h/t Express), Manchester United have held negotiations with EFL Championship side Watford over the possibility of signing Ismaila Sarr. However, the Red Devils are only looking to sign him on a season-long loan deal.
The 22-year-old Sarr joined Watford from Rennes last summer. And even though Hornets were relegated from the Premier League, the Senegalese international was one of the few players who impressed for them in 2019/20.
Sarr scored five goals in 29 Premier League appearances in his debut campaign, including two against Liverpool to end their unbeaten run.
Manchester United are in the market for a new right-winger, with Jadon Sancho being their primary target. However, with things looking bleak on that front, the Red Devils are lining up alternatives, with Sarr emerging as one. (h/t Express)
Speaking on the Transfer Show, Cooper confirmed that Manchester United have an interest in the 22-year-old. But they are only looking at him as a temporary solution. (h/t Express)
“Ismaila Sarr is someone that Manchester United have talked to Watford about, there have been discussions. But again, they’re not looking at a player like that as a permanent fixture. They want a loan signing.”

With the transfer window shutting on Monday, Manchester United have very little time to get a deal over the line for Sancho.
However, with Sarr, they can complete the signing till October 16, with rules allowing an extra eleven-day period after the deadline for transfers from EFL clubs.
Not strengthening the squad when all the teams around us have done so would be inviting disaster. So it will be interesting to see if United are able to bring in either of the two wingers.
