Man United face Merseyside threat in Carabao Cup quarterfinals

Manchester United to face Everton in Carabao Cup quarterfinals

According to MEN, Manchester United have been drawn against Everton in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

The Red Devils made short work of Brighton as they romped home to a 3-0 victory at the Amex midweek. In Everton, they will be facing a much bigger challenge.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have enjoyed a fine start to the season and have won all six of their competitive fixtures so far. Having added the likes of James Rodriguez and Allan, they are now a balanced and hungry outfit.

The exact date and kick-off time for the match has not yet been set. But it will be played in the week commencing December 21 and held at Goodison Park.

While a trip to Merseyside is never easy, the prospect of having to play this fixture in the midst of a busy holiday season will test Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad management.

United made it to the semifinals of the competition last season. They could find no way past Manchester City, who won over two legs.

Everton have a 100% win rate so far this season

With the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool already out, the Carabao Cup could present us with an opportunity to win out first silverware in three years.

United have won the competition five times in their history. Our latest triumph came in 2017 when we overcame Southampton 3-2 in the final.

While the League Cup is scoffed at as a tier-2 tournament by top teams, it provides us with a chance to inculcate a winning habit among the players. That is something Solskjaer should be looking to achieve this season.
