Twitter reacts as Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong impresses at left-back
It was a night to remember for Tahith Chong as the Manchester United youngster played his first game as a left-back.
A specialist right-winger, he is also capable of tearing up the flank on the other side. However, Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s decision to sue the young Dutchman as a left-back came as a surprise.
To his credit, Chong put up a performance that would even have made his detractors sit up and take notice.
On the field for just 18 minutes and out of position, he showed remarkable adaptability to look imperious on the field.
Chong impressed during his 22 minutes on the pitch. He showed flashes of brilliance and even bombed forward at times to good effect.
Years ago, Harry Redknapp converted Gareth Bale from a left-back into a world-class winger. It may be a stretch to say so at this point in time, but Chong might as well be successful going the other way.
