Twitter reacts as Marcus Rashford wins PFA Community Champion Award
Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has emerged as a beacon of hope for millions all around the world for his philanthropic activities.
He has now been recognized by the PFA for his efforts to make the society a better place. It was a double win for United as Rashford and women’s’ team star Jackie Groenen received the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Community Champion Award for the 2019/20 season.
The 22-year-old joined forces with food waste charity FareShare earlier in the year to help raise £20m to aid those who would no longer receive free school meals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rashford also wrote an open letter to the government, calling them to end child poverty in the UK. It led to a U-turn that saw them extend free school meals for children during the summer holidays.
Thanks to Rashford, around 1.3million children will now not have to worry about where their next meal would come from.
His efforts saw him become the youngest recipient of the honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester. This made him the third Man United hero to receive the particular honour after Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson.
United fans took to Twitter to congratulate Rashford. We take a look at a few of them below.
