Dean Henderson hands an ultimatum to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

According to the Sun, Manchester United star Dean Henderson has no intention of playing second fiddle to David de Gea.

Having returned from a successful loan at Sheffield United, Henderson has his eyes on the number one spot at Old Trafford. He has given an ultimatum to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to either make him United’s top goalie or help him find a new club.

De Gea has been United’s numero uno for the past nine years. Amongst the best in the business, his form has nosedived in the past couple of seasons. Although capable of the spectacular, he is now prone to making a number of errors.

This has led to certain sections calling for him to be replaced by Henderson for next season. Although Solskajer sees the youngster as one for the future, he believes Henderson needs to be patient.

This could force United into a tough choice come the summer. Henderson is not short of suitors. Chelsea are keen to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga and have identified the United shot-stopper as a potential replacement.

Sheffield are also keen, with him having left a lasting impression at Bramall Lane. Henderson played a key role in the Blades’ push for European football. He kept an impressive 13 clean sheets in his first season in the top-flight.

He will have a better opportunity to catch the eyes if he plays regularly. Whether that is at United or not remains to be seen.

Despite our defence stepping up the performances, individual errors continue to be an Achilles heel. De Gea has been a hero for the club numerous times.

He should be celebrated but this cannot be used as a leveller to justify poor performances. United must not lose sight of the future by being loyal to the past.

United also risk losing reserve keeper Sergio Romero. The Argentine star is unhappy over his future prospects at the club.
