Barcelona are interested in Diogo Dalot
According to ESPN, Barcelona are interested in Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot.
The Portuguese right-back has struggled to impress since moving to the club in the summer of 2018. He was one of Jose Mourinho’s last signings for the club.
Brought in as a replacement for Antonio Valencia, the 21-year-old has found game time hard to come by under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norwegian instead prefers to use Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
Dalot made just four appearances for United in the Premier League this term and could be moved on this summer.
Barcelona, who have endured a nightmare season, could turn into a potentially surprising destination for the under-performing defender. They have identified the 21-year-old as a potential summer addition as they look to rebuild.
The Catalans are expected to sell Nelson Semedo, who has been linked with Manchester City and Napoli. This could free up a spot for Dalot. (h/t Express)
Selling him will help United enhance their transfer kitty. With the club chasing the likes of Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho, it could prove very handy indeed.
With Champions League football back on the agenda, the club can now comfortably pursue the biggest names in the continent.
Other players to make way could be Jesse Lingard, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, and Alexis Sanchez.
Dalot has not played for United in the league since February. One will have to go back all the way to October to find his previous start. (h/t Transfermarkt)
He had earlier commented about giving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a selection headache. It is fair to say that has not happened.

Dalot has found himself out in the cold despite the United squad having to deal with injuries and fatigue. Barcelona’s interest comes as a godsend. Still just 21, he has a chance to resurrect his career. However, it does not look like that will be at Old Trafford.
