“The league doesn’t lie” – Several fans ecstatic as Man United secure key season objective

It was a return to Europe’s top table after Manchester United successfully qualified for the UEFA Champions League after a 2-0 win against Leicester City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been tasked with taking Manchester United back to the top. It is fair to say that he looked to be doing just that at the King Power Stadium.

It was a vintage United performance. Leicester were the better team at times but the result doesn’t lie and it says the Red Devils were ‘two’ good for the Foxes.

With Chelsea winning their game, the pressure was on Leicester to defeat us. That task was harder when the brilliant Bruno Fernandes stepped up to score from the spot after Anthony Martial was brought down for a penalty.

The night was wrapped up in stoppage time as substitute Jesse Lingard scored his first league goal since 2018 to ensure United not finished in the top four but also stay in third spot ahead of Chelsea.

Solskjaer’s side have had a drop in level in recent games but they showed their clinical side when it truly mattered. The attention will now shift to the Europa League that will commence next month.

A trophy will now put the cherry on top in what has been an extremely promising season. The work is just beginning and we have ways to go but we are making all the right moves.
