Twitter reacts as Manchester United finish third in the English Premier League
It was a return to Europe’s top table after Manchester United successfully qualified for the UEFA Champions League after a 2-0 win against Leicester City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been tasked with taking Manchester United back to the top. It is fair to say that he looked to be doing just that at the King Power Stadium.
It was a vintage United performance. Leicester were the better team at times but the result doesn’t lie and it says the Red Devils were ‘two’ good for the Foxes.
With Chelsea winning their game, the pressure was on Leicester to defeat us. That task was harder when the brilliant Bruno Fernandes stepped up to score from the spot after Anthony Martial was brought down for a penalty.
The night was wrapped up in stoppage time as substitute Jesse Lingard scored his first league goal since 2018 to ensure United not finished in the top four but also stay in third spot ahead of Chelsea.
Solskjaer’s side have had a drop in level in recent games but they showed their clinical side when it truly mattered. The attention will now shift to the Europa League that will commence next month.
A trophy will now put the cherry on top in what has been an extremely promising season. The work is just beginning and we have ways to go but we are making all the right moves.
Ole is at the wheel and he has taken us straight back to Europe’s top table. A number of United fans took to Twitter to celebrate the club’s success. We take a look at a few of them below.

The league doesnt lie… We were the 3rd best team this season… An amazing achievement going into this season back in August.
A poor start to the season but then a great finish to the season to put us back in the CL.
Well done #manunited 🇾🇪#LEIMUN #manutd
That’s it. It’s all over. Third place finish is the second best since Ferguson retired and better than any United manager has produced at the end of their first full season in that time. #mufc

I really fancy the Europa League now. The pressure is off, the players will get a decent rest, & there’s still a chance of silverware. Top 4 was the priority and that’s now been achieved. All the credit in the world needs to go to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Now let’s get Sancho. #MUFC
