Barcelona open to selling Antoine Griezmann amidst Manchester United interest

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (h/t MEN) Barcelona are willing to sell Antoine Griezmann amidst interest from Manchester United.

Alongside Paul Pogba, 29-year-old played a key role as France won the World Cup in 2018. Unfortunately his big-money move to Barcelona the following year has so far been a disappointment.

Griezmann has now emerged as a target for United, who he rejected in 2017. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bolster his attack but does not view the Frenchman as a priority.

According to the report, Barcelona will listen to offers for the World Cup winner who is under contract until 2024. He has also garnered interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

A major problem in United’s pursuit could be Greizmann’s valuation. Barcelona paid around £107million for the Frenchman last summer. Already 29, it will represent a significant investment by United for a player who will soon enter his 30s.

In some ways, it has parallels to our ill-fated signing of Alexis Sanchez. Although a no-brainer on paper, it has proved to be anything but a disaster that the club regrets to this day.

Greizmann at Barcelona is not the same player he was during Russia 2018 or at Atletico Madrid. United will be better off investing such money elsewhere.
