Anthony Martial gives verdict on Bruno Fernandes – Paul Pogba partnership
Manchester United fans got to see Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba start for the team for the first time against Sheffield United on Wednesday.
The hero for the night was Anthony Martial, who scored the first hat trick by a United player since Robin van Persie in 2013. The victory put us to within a touching distance of Chelsea in fourth.
Following the match, the Frenchman spoke to MUTV (h/t MEN) of the advantage of playing alongside the midfield duo.
“They’re top players.”
It was one of our better performances this season with the team linking up well from back to front. The attack and midfield in particular showed more imagination as we put the Blades to the sword.
It appears that all the time spent in training is paying off. The linkup between Pogba and Fernandes was evident with the team creating a plethora of opportunities. (h/t MEN)
“In training we practiced the link-up a lot, today was a very good game, we created a lot of chances,” Martial added.
It was United’s first competitive outing at Old Trafford since the 2-0 victory over Manchester City in March.
Not only did we dent Sheffield’s hopes of challenging for the top four, but have boosted ours significantly.
With seven more games to go, the linkup between our key players can only improve our chances of securing a top-four finish.
