Rennes bid for Manchester United target Benoit Badiashile
According to RMC Sport (h/t Mirror), Ligue 1 side Rennes have made a €15m bid for Manchester United target Benoit Badiashile.
The 19-year-old Frenchman is considered to be one of the best defenders of his age group in Europe. He made his debut for the Monaco senior side last season. The youngster has since amassed 46 appearances in which he has scored one goal and one assist. (h/t Transfermarkt)
According to the report, Monaco are set to demand more for the player. He is seen as a cheaper alternative to Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.
Our interest in Badiashile is not new. The club has been keen on signing the youngster since Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Old Trafford. (h/t Mirror)
He has also garnered the attention of other European clubs such as Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen. Badiashile has experience of playing in the Champions League. He made two appearances for Monaco in the 2018-19 campaign.
Adding Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka has considerably improved our defence. We cannot rest on our laurels and will have to continue building to sustain an era of success.
Badiashile might not be ready to partner Maguire yet. Under the right guidance though, he can grow into an excellent defender. United will do well to take a chance on the young French youth international.

United have in recent windows focused on bringing in the best young talents to the club.
Unfortunately, we have missed out on one of our biggest targets – Jude Bellingham. The youngster has instead preferred to move abroad to Borussia Dortmund.
It will be interesting to see if we will make a move for Badiashile. Given the uncertainty regarding Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, the youngster can be a good addition to the United squad.
