Manchester City hold talks with Manchester United target Leon Bailey
According to Foot Mercato (h/t Mirror), Manchester City are set to beat Manchester United in the race for Leon Bailey.
The 22-year-old Bailey has been heralded as one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe since he burst onto the scenes at KRC Genk a few years ago. He made the switch to Bayer Leverkusen in January 2017 and has continued to carve out a massive reputation for himself.
In the ongoing campaign, Bailey has scored seven goals and set up three more in 28 matches across all competitions. He put in a fine performance earlier this week against FC Koln, following which reports emerged that both United and City were keen on signing him. (h/t Daily Mail)
City are on the lookout for a replacement for Leroy Sane. The German has refused to sign a new contract at the club. (h/t Daily Mail)
United, on the other hand, are keeping alternative options ready in case the pursuit of Jadon Sancho fails. The report states that our club eyeing the Jamaican international as a cheaper alternative to Sancho and Jack Grealish. (h/t Daily Mail)
However, our local rivals are leading the chase for the Bundesliga ace. Their manager Pep Guardiola has already held talks with him to convince him to move to the Etihad. (h/t Mirror)

That shouldn’t be perceived as a blow, given that Bailey was not even our primary transfer target. The club continues earnestly to try to secure the signing of Jadon Sancho, who would be a much better addition to our ranks.
