Manchester United could sign Kai Havertz for £20m lesser

According to Football.london, Manchester United can sign Kai Havertz for £70million if Bayer Leverkusen fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Bundesliga side are currently in the fourth spot and are on course to qualify for Europe’s top tournament.

With just two games to go, they hold a one-point lead over Borussia Monchengladbach in the fifth spot. It appears that the race for fourth will go down to the wire.

Leverkusen are adamant about holding out on their valuation of Havertz worth £90m. According to the report though, this could fall to £70m if they fail to make the top four.

Havertz is one of Europe’s best young players. Signing him would be considered a victory for any team across the continent.

He has been in red hot form since the restart and has done his reputation no harm. He has scored 16 goals and assisted 8 more in 40 appearances this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Our biggest rivals for his signature are fellow Premier League side, Chelsea. The Blues have set the footballing world aflame with their quick moves for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner. (h/t Football.london)

Signing the 21-year-old will not only strengthen us but also stop Chelsea from taking a mighty leap closer to Liverpool and Manchester City.

We cannot afford to stand still while our rivals strengthen. It is time United once again became the preferred destination for the best players.

It remains a real possibility that Leverkusen may miss out on the fourth spot. Gladbach have the comparatively easier fixtures and will be ready to pounce on any slip-ups.

With ‘Neverkusen’, you never know.
