Twitter reacts as ‘close contact’ and ‘competitive’ training given go ahead
Manchester United fans could be closing in on seeing their stars take the field once again.
According to Sky Sports, the UK government has released phase two of its guidance for athletes to make a phased return to close-contact and competitive training.
This is conditional to them having the appropriate carefully controlled medical conditions in place.
Premier League footballers have already resumed small groups training with appropriate social distancing in force. The clubs now face a key vote on Wednesday over contact training.
The decision has been taken with the aim of helping competitors reach fitness levels required for matches. Close-contact training for elite athletes can include coaching and tackling in team sports within a two-meter distance .
‘Stage three’ of the government’s protocols are expected to centre around a return to professional sports in June.
A number of Manchester United fans took to Twitter to react to the news. We take a look at a few of them below.

Everything and everyone needs to safely return to work.
Whichever side of the argument you sit on, clearly progress is being made and the use of test and trace will aid this further. Football is slowly coming back.

🤦♂️ so literally after 2 player didn’t show up as positive in the first round of testing they will allow contact… as if it’s not highly infectious.

Ridiculous.
So is this gona mean that if sports athletes can have close contact with one another, that the public are going to be able to have close contact once again? Can we start to visit loved ones and finally hug them?

For the hundreds of null and void that I’m sure are on here like turrets..you all know it’s not in the table as your not stupid..so if its lives we are worried about and not playing football the next option is PPG and worry about what’s left of football in 2022
