Man United could be set to take advantage of City’s embarrassing slip in the race for English star

Manchester United keen on Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho

According to the Mirror, Manchester United signing Jadon Sancho could depend on Manchester City’s European ban being upheld.

The English wonderkid will, however, not come cheap and is expected to cost at least £100million. Given that our debt has risen by £130million, chief executive Ed Woodward confirmed that it will not be business as usual.

However, if Manchester City’s ban is upheld, United have an excellent chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. This is essential when one considers the club will earn at least £50million from taking part in the lucrative competition.

It will also help the club offset having to write off over £30million in broadcasting and match-day revenues.

United are currently 5th in the table while City are second. Assuming the ban is upheld, as things stand, the Red Devils can jump one spot with respect to European qualification.

Such an infusion will be a double win for the club. Not only would it strengthen Woodward’s hand when it comes to testing Dortmund’s resolve in keeping their crown jewel but also satisfy the player’s demand for Champions League football.

Money talks!

The Bundesliga giants are not averse at selling the player. However, they will only do so if the price is right.

The high end of the transfer market is expected to collapse in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The cash infusion from the Champions League will become all the more important given the situation.
