Manchester United coach Michael Carrick picks his dream six-a-side team

Manchester United coach and legend Michael Carrick has picked former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney in his dream six-a-side team. (h/t Daily Star)

Carrick, who is a part of United’s coaching staff now, spent 12 years as a player at Old Trafford.

The former England international signed for us from Tottenham Hotspur in 2006 and retired in 2018 after winning five Premier League titles, a Champions League and a Europa League trophy.

Carrick, during his time at our club, shared the dressing room with some of the greatest players of the time. And now, the former midfielder has picked his dream six-a-side team. (MUTV via Daily Star)

Rio Ferdinand got the nod in goal, with Carrick opting for the Englishman over goalkeepers David de Gea and Edwin van der Sar in quite an unconventional selection. (h/t Daily Star)

“Rio went in goal once, so I’m saying Rio can play half-and-half. I apologise to David [De Gea] and Edwin [Van der Sar], but I want an outfielder.”

Carrick picked himself as the defender in the side, opting to field Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in the middle of the park. (h/t Daily Star)
