Manchester United Fans Erupt In Twitter As Di Maria Demolishes Barcelona

Angel Di Maria buried Barcelona in their Champions League clash and put on a scintillating display. It didn’t take long for Di Maria to score against the Catalonian side when he put a free kick past the Barca wall in the 18th minute. It was sublime to watch. He then scored his second of the night when he tried a finesse from outside the box and left Barcelona players looking at each other in despair. The game was virtually over.

However, it was the reaction from Man Utd fans after Di Maria’s brilliant display that was trending on Twitter after the game.

Di Maria arrived at Old Trafford with huge expectations and was given the famed number 7 jersey. It later turned to be too heavy a number and he never really settled in England which eventually led to the player moving to Paris. The opinions were divided on Di Maria’s departure from United, with some fans feeling that he must have been given enough time and some feeling that he simply wasn’t good enough.

Now that Di Maria has been playing fine for PSG ever since he joined them, many fans from Manchester are regretting the club’s decision to let him leave.

The Argentine winger managed to score 3 goals and provide 10 assists in Premier League and was considered a huge flop and was replaced by Ashley Young in the line-up. Van Gaal was being harsh with the winger, but the fact that Di Maria did not put up a fight to grab a place in the starting XI, was not appreciated by fans and critics.

It can also be said that Di Maria was a marquee signing and deserved to walk into the team. But it doesn’t work that way in a team sport like football and Van Gaal was right to expect ADM to work harder.

Ever since he moved to PSG, he has been at peace and provided a remarkable 20 assists last season. He has so far provided 7 assists this season and has scored 4 goals in Champions League so far.

Barcelona were no match for PSG last night and were drubbed 4-0. No team has ever overturned a 4-goal first leg deficit in Champions League history, which means Barcelona will have to break the history to progress to Quarterfinals.

The Twitterati reacted hilariously to Di Maria killing Barcelona and here are some of the best tweets we came across.
