The Red Devils are reportedly willing to rival Manchester City for the signature of £50million-rated Juventus defender, Leonardo Bonucci.
The 29-year-old defender was vastly impressive in the Euro 2016 campaign, playing as the main centre-back and performing his heart out alongside his club teammate, Chiellini and the Mirror claim that Manchester United are ready to spend big to fend off interest from any other clubs.
Jose Mourinho is keen on strengthening his defence with another top-quality centre-back, and is supposed to have recognized Bonucci as the ideal leader to further strengthen team’s backline. The signing of Eric Bailly doesn’t seem to satisfy the Portuguese manager to the fullest and along with millions of fans, Mourinho also thinks that the defensive options aren’t quite good if the team has to win the Premier League this time.

Bonucci might be the answer to United’s defensive problems. The Italy international is an exceptional defender and also very experienced. At the age of 29, he has played in every major tournament and has succeeded well in his career with both club and country.
Manchester United have been facing problems in general since Sir Alex left his duty, but the most important part of the team that needs to improve rigorously is the defence.
United haven’t found the Vidic and Ferdinand type duo since last few years and struggled massively at the back. Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Johnny Evans were predicted as the future main centre-backs, but it didn’t quite turn that way under the new managers after Sir Alex.
Leonardo Bonucci will give United the strength and composure, which the team needs at the back. His leadership quality is also spot on, which will help the young defenders to learn a lot from him. He can form a formidable partnership with inform defender, Chris Smalling.
The 29-year-old player was one of the standout defenders at Euro 2016 and has been vital for Juventus during their four successive Serie A title wins. His move to Old Trafford will definitely boost United’s chances for the league title.
