Raphael Varane, often touted as the most promising young defender in football may be available for transfer this summer. This news from Le10 comes as a huge boost for the Red Devils as the club is actively looking for a partner for Chris Smalling.
The 22-year-old French international is currently third in the pecking order of central defenders in Real Madrid after Pepe and Sergio Ramos. That is ironic since the current manager Zidane’s personal intervention was the reason why the player came to Real in the first place. However the position of not being the first choice defender has frustrated Varane as per the report and the player is looking for option out of Real Madrid.
United are looking for a defender who can partner with Chris Smalling on a regular basis and Varane could be it. Manchester United’s other defenders showed their vulnerability by being benched most of the season with injury this year and United desperately needs someone who can stay fit and play quality football. Frenchman seems to tick all the boxes.
