“Please sign her”, “Hurrah!!” – Manchester United fans on cloud nine as club announces pro Women’s team

Manchester United will be fielding a professional women’s team in the FA Women’s Championship later this year after an application was approved by the FA.

A release from the official United website also went on to say that the team would be playing at The Cliff once development work takes place at the historic training ground at Salford.

Ed Woodward, the United Executive Vice Chairman also added that there will be a lot of exciting announcements in the coming weeks and that this is going to be a challenging project.

“We will be making some exciting announcements in the coming days and weeks. Starting a professional team from scratch is challenging but rewarding and we will make every effort to provide the support and experience for the new women’s team to be successful and to uphold the fine traditions of our great club.”

Twitter also had its fair share of excited United fans as many wanted the club to name Alex Morgan as their new signing.
