Jose Mourinho must be a happy man after seeing his side cruise to three consecutive wins in the English Premier League before heading for an International break.
Top of his mind during this break would be the transfer activities, as the summer window closes by the end of this month. Having already signed three players, the gaffer is happy with the action so far, although he still wants a fourth-signing.
Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku, and Nemanja Matic have joined the club in the summer while Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been re-signed, although he would be available only in the second half of the campaign.
Jose is still in the market for a wide man and would be happy even if he doesn’t get his wish in this window.
“Everyone knows I would like a fourth player and I cannot hide that because I had that in my mind. But I am happy if I am not going to have that and I don’t think I am going to have that,” Mourinho said.
Who will the fourth signing be? All through the summer, it was supposed to be Inter Milan’s winger Ivan Perisic. The Croatian winger who is Mourinho’s favorite was reportedly keen to join Old Trafford but Inter stood firm in blocking his exit.
Technically speaking, it was only the difference in valuation that stopped Inter from sanctioning his sale but it also meant that Mourinho and Ed Woodward had to look at alternate targets. The form of Anthony Martial is a huge plus, with the Frenchman starting the season well. If Mourinho still wants to sign a wide player, it could be Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.
Now, we all know how difficult it is for Manchester United and Real Madrid to conduct a transfer without any drama – which makes Bale’s signing as much a fantasy as impossible.
Good Start To The Season
Mourinho has overseen a positive start to the season with three matches witnessing 10 goals scored, zero conceded, and 9 points in the bag. Though it is too early, the Portuguese tactician must be happy with how things have unfolded so far.
There are high hopes among the fans that the club would continue their current form and maintain their aggressive streak. If Mourinho can land his fourth signing before the end of the transfer window, it would be a bonus.
What do you think? Will Jose Mourinho be successful in signing a fourth player this summer?
