Thomas Tuchel has ‘fear’ over Manchester United opportunity
As reported by ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News), Thomas Tuchel ‘fears’ that he will not be getting the opportunity to coach Manchester United even if Erik ten Hag ends up leaving this summer.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team have a lot of things on this summer’s agenda, the first step will likely be to bring in new players. The team wants to be competitive again, so they will be needing a ton of quality in their lineup.
It is believed that Dan Ashworth would prefer a more flexible coach to the likes of Tuchel who is a more authoritative figure and would have more say in important matters. It’s like the route Liverpool have gone with Arne Slot.
Slot will be Liverpool’s new head coach instead of their new manager like Jurgen Klopp. So, while the Dutch manager will be taking care of the first team, he won’t get to make a lot of decisions on the team’s transfers.
If ESPN’s source is to be believed then Manchester United will be looking to do the same thing and Thomas Tuchel just doesn’t fit the job description. The team will be looking for someone who can fit a wider structure.
So, this means that most top-flight managers will not align with the Red Devils’ plans for the future. That once again spices up the debate of who the next manager will be.

However, before we start worrying about the next manager, we need to see what becomes of Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman has two games left this season, winning both might be enough to get his team to the Europa League and get him the FA Cup. However, it is yet to be seen whether it’ll be enough to save his job or not.
