Man United manager, Erik ten Hag says beating Man City in FA Cup final will not turn the season into a success
Manchester United nearly squeaked past Coventry City to register a place for themselves in the FA Cup finals of this season. Much like the semifinal game against Coventry, the Red Devils’ season has been full of ups and downs.
However, reaching the FA Cup finals is surely reason to be happy for Erik ten Hag and his team. Man United have struggled with an endless amount of injuries and have fought their way to success in at least one competition.
While many may think that the Dutchman can save his season by winning the FA Cup, the manager doesn’t think that way. Here’s what Erik ten Hag had to say when asked about winning the FA Cup against Man City. (h/t BBC)
“I want to win it. I’m sure we have a good chance to win this final, although we play the best team in the world”
“Winning the FA Cup doesn’t make it [their season] successful, we want to win more.”
Erik ten Hag may want to win more but the brand of football his team has been playing this season probably won’t get them any success at all. Ten Hag added that he needs a squad full of players who are ready to believe if he is so to win the FA Cup final.
However, he should pay attention to the fact that he barely has enough players to call his team a full squad. These recurring injuries have absolutely demolished the Dutchman’s plans and, unfortunately, he has not been able to figure out a way around it.
Man United will be playing the most important match of their season when they take on Pep Guardiola and his Man City in the FA Cup Finals. Hopefully, Erik ten Hag’s players will be fit and available when the fated day arrives.
