Manchester United should axe their coach, Erik ten Hag says Ballon d’Or winner
A lot of people have questioned the quality of Erik ten Hag during his time at Manchester United. While the Dutchman did well to silence his critics at the beginning of January, his team’s form has faltered a lot during the past few weeks.
The team has recently dropped six points in the Premier League thanks to their recent losses against Fulham and Manchester City. Due to the team’s recent form talks surrounding a sack for Erik ten Hag seem to have reignited.
Former Ballon d’Or winner, Michael Owens is the latest to join these conversations and put his view forward while speaking to Manchester Evening News. Let’s have a look at what the former Liverpool striker had to say.
“I said it a couple of months ago about getting rid of Ten Hag. I think they should. It’s not all the manager’s fault, of course not. The players go out and play. His signings have been pretty average.”
Owens added that he watches Manchester United play and is often unsure about the team’s identity and style of play. We’ve seen the Dutchman adopt different strategies against teams of a different calibre.
While facing top-flight teams like Manchester City and Liverpool Erik ten Hag gave up possession and worked on counterattacks. However, during their usual games, the team tries to play in from the wings with minimal to little success.
So Owens’s opinion doesn’t come with the results in mind. Instead, he seems to indicate the Ten Hag doesn’t have a plan in mind.
