Manchester United are eyeing a move for Luton Town star Ross Barkley

Manchester United have been linked with a sensational transfer for Luton Town star Ross Barkley, who is well-known for his time at Chelsea.

Following his completion of acquiring a 25% stake in Manchester United and sporting control from the Glazers family, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to change the fortunes of the club.

Some difficult sporting decisions will need to be taken. There were reports about Manchester United selling some of the highest earners and academy graduates to generate more pure profit. This shall help Manchester United to get around the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rule.

Revamping the midfield

Casemiro is one of the names that is been looked into for a potential sale. The Brazilian midfielder is yet to find his feet at Old Trafford following his big-money move from Real Madrid. His inconsistent performance complemented by his high wages and disciplinary problems on the pitch is forcing Manchester United to look into selling him.

Midfield looks like a big problem at Manchester United. Alongside Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat’s loan deal doesn’t look like will be made permanent.

They are competing with Barcelona for a potential transfer of Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Ross Barkley according to a report by Mirror.

Ross Barkley has been phenomenal at Luton Town. He also played an impressive game last week when Manchester United visited Kenilworth Road.

The 30-year-old joined Luton Town on a free transfer from Nice. Since his transfer in the summer window, Ross Barkley has scored three goals and provided further three assists in 20 Premier League appearances for Luton this season.

There are suggestions Ross Barkley can leave Luton Town on a low-fee transfer if they are to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

Barkley has a Ratcliffe history

Ross Barkley spoke to the time about how Sir Jim Ratcliffe was a big influence behind joining Nice.

“Nice is an ambitious club,” Barkley said.

“Nice are a big club with a big history, that has won titles, that has qualified for European football numerous times in the past seasons, and that was a finalist in last year’s Coupe de France.

“There is also a super, passionate fanbase. I am very excited to play here. They presented me with a project over multiple years. It is a club that wants to go far, that wants to be a big club at a European level.

“I managed to speak with Dave Brailsford, who showed me the growth project at the club. Jim Ratcliffe also convinced me to come here to help the team progress.”

Ratcliffe also wrote in his book, Grit, Rigour & Humour, about Barkley:

“I saw him at Chelsea and he’s a really good footballer.

“If his mind’s in the right place and he’s in really good shape, you could play him twice a week because he’s built like a tank, really strong. You have to give a guy a chance to settle. And he gets one game every three or four. It’s ridiculous.”

Ross Barkley in a Manchester United shirt is not something we saw happening some time ago. It doesn’t seem unrealistic now though. Let’s wait and see how this progresses.
