Manchester United pale in comparison to bitter rivals Man City when it comes to 2023’s viewership in the USA
Manchester United have once again been left chasing the wind by their bitter rivals Man City. According to a new report by The Athletic, The Blues blew Erik ten Hag and his team out of the water in terms of 2023 viewership in America.
This doesn’t come as a surprise when you consider the fact that Pep Guardiola’s team was one of the most successful clubs last year. They won their third Premier League title in a row along with the club’s seventh-ever FA Cup.
Finally, Manchester City won their first-ever Champions League trophy to seal Guardiola’s second and the club’s first treble. When you’re that good at what you do people will show up in hordes to witness it.
This is not to say that Manchester United were bad last season. In fact, the Red Devils in 2022/23 were one of the best Premier League teams and finished their season in the third spot, they also won the Carabao Cup.
They were good, but this is nothing compared to the greatness of Guardiola and his Man City team. The Old Trafford squad won their last Premier League title back in 2013.
It’s been more than a decade since they were on top and the world outside of Europe is slowly starting to realise it. If Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS fail to turn the club around, stats like this will continue to show up all the time.
