Manchester United missed out on a big talent who has now joined Tottenham Hotspur.

As reported by Mirror, Manchester United had multiple opportunities to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s newest acquisition, Lucas Bergvall. The highly-rated midfielder is considered to be the next ‘Frenkie De Jong’.

18-year-old Bergvall has previously given two trials to the Red Devils. However, much to his disappointment, he was overlooked both times. Even before signing for the Lilywhites, the player was expected to join FC Barcelona.

However, much to Xavi Hernandez and Deco’s disappointment, Ange Postecoglou called and hijacked Barcelona’s Bergvall deal on the last day of the winter transfer window.

The central midfielder’s ceiling is very high, it would not come as a surprise if he grows to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. While Barcelona might be disappointed, they will feel happy to know that at least they have the current Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and even Pedri to count on.

Meanwhile Manchester United don’t have a lot of young talent to lead their midfield during the future. Hannibal Mejbri looked like the prime candidate but for some reason, the club decided to include a buy clause into his loan deal.

But, not all is lost for United. Losing out on Bergvall means that the team could also pursue a young and talented midfielder during the summer.
