Manchester United icon Mikael Silvestre urged the club to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise before other interested top clubs
Manchester United legend Mikael Silvestre wants the club to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise before other top clubs can. Silvestre highlighted the qualities that Olise possesses, believing he has a much higher potential that can help the Red Devils.
United manager Erik ten Hag has struggled to build cohesion within the team which has adversely affected their season. The Red Devils are already out of the Champions League and the Carabao Cup competitions in the early stages. Furthermore, they are currently in the seventh position in the Premier League, eight points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
They have only scored 49 goals from 32 matches in all competitions, failing to score any goal in nine matches. Ten Hag’s attackers have struggled with inconsistent form, emphasizing recruitment in attack during the summer for the next season.
Speaking to Betting Expert (h/t Metro.co.uk) Sylvestre shared his desire to see Olise in the United jersey. He said:
“He [Olise] has the potential to play for United. He’s been improving a lot since his days at Reading. He plays for the France Under-21s, and I think he will progress into the national team as soon as he jumps to a Champions League club. He should be on the United target list but I’m not sure he’s targeting a move to United. He would bring quality, speed and he’s a good all-round player who’s direct. He likes to take on players. He needs to work on his end product whether that’s the service or scoring goals.”
Olise has scored six goals and provided three assists from 10 appearances in the Premier League this season. The 22-year-old plays dominantly as a right winger, but he is versatile enough to play more centrally.
The France U21 has fantastic ball control, dribbling abilities and pace to get past the opponent’s defence. Standing at 1.84 metres, he is physically well-built to hold his own against defenders and beat them on one-on-one duels.
Olise’s standout ability is his technique which helps him create and shoot with precision and act as a serious threat. His biggest issue is the recurring injuries that halt his development and potential to become a quality attacker.

United’s specialist right winger Antony has failed to justify the massive price tag the club paid for him in 2022. The Brazilian has gone through incredible draught in both goals and assists this season after 24 appearances in all competitions. He got one goal and an assist each in the FA Cup game against League Two side Newport County.
Olise has the ability and the potential to replace Antony in the attack department. The Frenchman has a good Premier League experience, earning a reputation that attracted interest from top clubs like Chelsea.
