Roy Keane shares his thoughts on the Marcus Rashford incident at Manchester United

Manchester United icon, Roy Keane has given his two cents on the Marcus Rashford situation. The Manchester-born star has been subjected to a ton of backlash for missing training after a 12-hour tequila bender.

More importantly, all of this happened right before a must-win FA Cup game. Erik ten Hag was quick to react and omitted him from the squad for that game. The situation has since been dealt with as an internal matter.

However, Keane has not been too happy with the lad. The former Red Devil had a lot of thoughts about the incident but none resonated louder than him calling Rashford an idiot.

Let’s have a look at what Roy Keane had to say about the whole ordeal. (h\t Stick To Football)

You’re 26, you’re an experienced player in the dressing room. You must hold your hands up and say, ‘I have been an idiot’.

Keane is correct about the situation. Rashford is looked at as a leader inside the Manchester United locker room and a lot of young stars look up to him. He needs to set an example for them and admit to his mistakes.

Moreover, this will also be very good for the team’s mental strength. United have struggled to show any tenacity on the pitch and recent times, and a tightly-knit squad that holds each other accountable can quickly remedy that.

Erik ten Hag might have gone too easy on the player by allowing him to return during the very next game. However, times are tough at the moment so the Dutchman’s decision makes sense, to say the least.
