Manchester United have been keeping a close eye on the situation of an Atletico Madrid star.
According to Spanish publication Todo Fichajes (h\t The Sun), Manchester United are interested in bringing in Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper, Jan Oblak. The 31-year-old has been excellent for the Spanish club.
It seems like the Red Devils still haven’t been able to replace the hole left behind by David De Gea. Try as he might, Andre Onana has been extremely poor for the squad this season. Moreover, he was sort of a catalyst for the team’s exit from the Champions League.
There’s Altay Bayindir on the team as well, but Manchester United being themselves don’t wanna take a chance on an untested talent. Oblak on the other hand, has had a highly decorated career during his time with Atletico.
Over 423 appearances for the La Liga giants, Oblak has maintained a total of 202 clean sheets. This means that he keeps a clean sheet in almost every other game.
Manchester United who have conceded goal after goal this season seem to be sold on the player. The summer transfer window will be a big one for the Red Devils and we might just see them pull Oblak over to the Premier League.
However, what will this mean for the current squad? Will Altay Bayindir keep warming the bench forever or will the Red Devils sell Andre Onana and promote the Turkish goalkeeper? It is also possible that Oblak could end up benching both of these players.
