Manchester United academy player Febian Brandy recalls playing for the club and says he wanted to play for local rivals Manchester City as well

According to Manchester Evening News. Febian Brandy, hailing from the vicinity of Old Trafford, nurtured aspirations of donning the iconic Manchester United jersey. Surprisingly, Barcelona expressed interest in signing him to join the ranks of Lionel Messi.

However, as Brandy honed his football skills on the streets, envisioning himself playing for United with his friends until the sun set and the air turned chilly, he never once considered the possibility of Barcelona expressing interest in bringing him to Catalonia.

Brandy said:

“No one really knows this, but I actually had two weeks at Manchester City before I went to United and I was there, but I just wanted to play football with my local friends kind of thing, so I didn’t really take the Manchester City opportunity too serious.”

Nevertheless, it was an unexpected turn of events when Brandy, who had impressed for United’s academy in a tournament overseas, declined their offer and remained steadfast in his decision.

He also said:

“I continued playing for my Sunday league team and then the opportunity at Man United came around and my mum and dad, they said ‘you’re not missing this opportunity!’ and then I signed for United when I was seven or eight.”

Following that, Brandy’s training at United’s academy accelerated his development. The solid education he received forms the basis for numerous talented young players at the club.

Brandy’s solid grounding and strong values proved to be invaluable as he made his way through United’s academy. He quickly established himself as one of United’s most promising young talents, but he let his performance on the pitch do the talking, showcasing his goal-scoring ability, skill, and agility.

Brandy has an impressive background, having spent over a decade in United’s academy. However, his story goes beyond just that. He offers a platform to support aspiring athletes, understanding the challenges his acquaintances have faced in building their networks within the industry. In essence, it’s a vast network of over 20,000 active users designed to assist both players and scouts, named Skouted Football.

United has a storied past in the FA Youth Cup, and Brandy played a crucial role in leading his team to the 2006/2007 final. However, despite Brandy’s outstanding performance, the Reds fell short in the final, losing to Liverpool in a penalty shootout.

Brandy enjoyed a successful loan spell with Swansea, before having brief stays at Hereford and Gillingham. He was released by United in 2010, but his amiable demeanour allowed him to forge friendships wherever he went on the pitch.
