William Gallas does not believe Manchester United will claim a top-four spot this season
William Gallas has made a grim prediction for Manchester United as the team is currently scrambling for a top-four Premier League finish. This season has been a struggle for Ten Hag and the squad.
Out of 21 Premier League games, the Red Devils have only won 10 whole losing nine games. They took the seventh spot on the table after Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford grabbed a goal each against Tottenham last Sunday.
However, they are still eight points behind the top four and Gallas says that the team will at best finish their season as sixth. Moreover, even that is not a given since Chelsea are also expected to fight for the sixth spot.
Here’s what Gallas had to say about the team while talking to Gambling Zone. (h\t Mirror)
“To qualify for the Europa League, Chelsea have to finish sixth and I think they’ll qualify for it. It will be between United and Chelsea for sixth place.”
He went on to say that he has never had faith in Arsenal to win the League this season. Instead, he believes that Manchester City will once again stand at the top when the season is over.
Now that Pep Guardiola has Kevin De Bruyne back in the lineup, pegging The Blues as Premier League champions is not a bold claim at all. However, the problem lies with Manchester United’s prediction.
Erik ten Hag will have a bunch of players returning from injury this month. Once he can field a stronger squad, Manchester United can mount a comeback and be back in Europe next season.

Fans are desperately waiting for a chance to prove Gallas’ prediction wrong. However, whether Ten Hag will be able to deliver that chance or not will only be decided once the season plays out.
