Manchester United shouldn’t overwork young midfielder warns Bent
While speaking on talkSPORT via Youtube, Darren Bent had some advice for Manchester United. He believes that the Red Devils shouldn’t be playing Kobbie Mainoo as often as they do and the team should look for a new player to take the load off him.
This season, 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo has been very impressive for the Old Trafford squad. He has made 10 appearances for the first team and has been solid in all of them.
What’s concerning about his playing time is his health, the English midfielder is only 18 and his body has a lot of room to grow still. Manchester United’s repeated utilization of Mainoo could easily take a toll on his young frame.
Here’s what Bent had to say about the situation while on talkSPORT.
“He can’t play every week, he’s a young kid”
If other people can it out then Manchester United should definitely not be taking Mainoo’s health lightly. They do already have Scott McTominay who is often played in rotation with the 18-year-old.
However, Scott McTominay is not of the same quality and a club like the Red Devils needs the services of someone better. The team needs creativity in their middle line and they also need to add depth.
Manchester United should pursue a player who can do both things for the team, relieve Kobbie Mainoo and create chances. Summer will be a crucial time for the team, and they need to bolster their midfield in some way.
