Manchester United are behind arch-rivals in race for former Barcelona defender
As reported by French publication Nice-Matin (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are trailing behind arch-rivals Liverpool in the race to sign former Barcelona defender, Jean-Clair Todibo.
This news comes as a shock to the Red Devils who were thought to be in the lead for the 24-year-old. OGC Nice who Todibo plays for is owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s company INEOS.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are thought to be in the lead because they can offer the French defender a chance to play in European competitions. Which currently, doesn’t look to be in the books for Manchester United.
No deals will be made this January as OGC Nice have been stalling all talks for the defender. If a lucrative offer arrives during the summer the team might let go of the player.
Todibo is just 24 years of age and already looks like one of the best defenders in the world. Putting him in at centre-back will take a big load off the minds of most managers. OGC Nice have found a true diamond in the rough.
He has made 117 appearances for the club while recording two goals and one assist which is a bonus since he primarily plays as a center-back.

Todibo will most likely be on the roster of a prominent club this time next year. Whether that club ends up being Manchester United or Liverpool is yet to be decided.
