Manchester United have offered their star defender to FC Barcelona for €20 million
As reported by TEAMtalk (h\t Spanish publication Fichajes), Manchester United have offered their star defender Raphael Varane to FC Barcelona for a price of €20 million.
The Red Devils just recently decided to opt against extending Raphael Varane’s contract by an additional year. It was later reported that the team would try to lock him down on a new deal that included reduced wages.
However, it seems like Manchester United will be looking to take the scenic route as they have offered the player to Xavi Hernandez’s side. This would be a very interesting move as Varane has previously played for Real Madrid.
Barcelona’s defensive line has been extremely weak this season, we have seen teams exploit their weaknesses time and time again. Adding a quality defender like Varane to the lineup will provide a much-needed positive change.
It seems like the Old Trafford squad is already on the market for the Frenchman’s replacement. According to The Sun, the team is looking to get a deal done for Atlanta BC star Giorgio Scalvini.
Raphael Varane’s stint at Manchester United has been somewhat awry. He impresses whenever he is called upon, but a string of injury issues has made his availability falter.
