Manchester United are looking to sign a Dutch striker but Bayern Munich currently hold buy-back rights to the player

According to Mirror, Manchester United are looking to get a deal done for former Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirkzee. The 8-goal Dutch striker has been garnering interest from several clubs.

Zirkzee completed a move from Bayern to Bologna back in 2022. This season the player has been in form recording eight goals and four assists in just 19 appearances (transfermarkt).

Of course, Manchester United would want to get their hands on such a prolific producer. But, the folks at Bayern Munich knew exactly what they were doing when they let go of Zirkzee.

According to SPORT1, Bayern Munich were very cheeky with Zirkzee’s contract. They have included a buy-back option valued at around €22m. A sell-on clause that will net them 50% of his fee is also part of the deal.

Manchester United can miss out on the player if the Bundesliga giants decide to bring him back. Moreover, if the Red Devils do end up signing Zirkzee 50% of his fee will anyway go to Bayern Munich.

A truly devilish contract for the Dutch striker. However, when you see him perform on the field any contract seems like a fair deal. At just 22, Joshua Zirkzee already has the makings of a world-class forward.

Does Manchester United need another striker? We know that Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and the other forwards have been in abysmal form. But, Manchester United’s goal drought cannot be blamed on them alone.

The team has been very poor at creating chances. There are times when they just don’t know what to do with the ball.

Maybe it’s time for the team to look for a midfielder instead of another striker who will later become a scapegoat if he is unable to perform. Anyone who can get Manchester United a few looks at the goal each game will be a great addition.
